What is a Closed Suction System?
The Closed Suction System is intended for the removal of secretions in the lower respiratory tract in patients receiving prolonged mechanical ventilation. The filter-protected system connects to the patient's artificial airway (Endotracheal or Tracheostomy tube) and the ventilation circuit. It can be used over a period of 24 to 72 hours depending on patient requirements.
